Brazil lowers taxes and guess what happens??
Brazil announced they are cutting taxes to SPUR ECENOMIC GROWTH. Imagine that??? What happened?? The brazilian stock market rose, and from the article
Taxes Taxes Everywhere
Whats the latest?
I hear now there is thought of charging a surtax to pay for the War in Afghanistan. If this happens I wonder how long it will last. Since most of the people of the United States do not read the constitution much less hold the Judicial, Executive, and Legislative branch to its tenants I'll bet it lasts longer than Article 1 - Section 8 of the Powers of Congress clause of the constitution allows.
Constitution of the United States of America - Article 1 - Section 8 Powers of Congress: To raise and support Armies, but no Appropriation of Money to that Use shall be for a longer Term than two years.

Freedom of Speech
So President Obama chastises China for censorship of the media. He states he has many critics in the United States but that is what makes the Country of the United States a great nation. If that is the case why is he wanting the fairness doctrine put in place.

Where is my country?
At one time I thought this country would be on earth forever. Now, I'm not so sure "We the People" want it to stay around. I have heard from more than one person that there is no country on earth that has lasted more than 200 or so years.
If you take into account we, the United States of America declared our independence on July 2, 1776 (That's when it was signed). It was adopted by Congress on July 4, 1776. That was only the start. Once we declared our independence it had to physically be won from Great Britain. In 1783 with the signing of the treaty of Paris was the Revolutionary War actually officially over. So, here we are 1783 - 1983, two hundreds years of independence. The current year is 2009, which means we have had independence for about 226 years. To some it is overdue we get our comeuppance. To some we need a good beating. To me I believe we need to look at history, not the stuff we are fed in (As Neal Boortz calls them) government schools, but honest real history. Take our lumps along with the kudos.
Why look at history? As the American Philosopher George Santayana (1863-1952) said: "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." If we don't learn from the past what have we got. How did we get where we are.
I will be commenting on current events and past events as the notion strikes me. To let you know I consider myself a conservative, not a republican, democrat, nor libertarian. I believe this country can wake up and get back to what has and will make us great.
